How To Not Drown (Musical)

Book & Lyrics | Alecia Evette Baxter
Music | Paige Menneci

How To Not Drown is an original romantic comedy about a 27-year old black woman (Norah) from a so-cal beach town who is chasing love in the form of a promotion at work. Meanwhile, her mama is scheming to marry her off to the handsome new guy from church (Eddie) - he's a black Oceanographer...oooh! Norah has to learn to shake the survival instincts she acquired from existing in predominantly white spaces, in order to be ‘successful’ in and out of the office.

Cornbread?

Song from How To Not Drown

Right before this song, Eddie "unexpectedly" rings the doorbell and Mama invites him to stay for dinner. Norah is livid but trying to be polite in front of their guest. As they sit down to eat, poor Eddie has no idea what he’s walked into. What’s on the menu?…Black eyed peas, collard greens and a whole lot of cornbread.
