That awkward moment when you’ve decided you don’t want to do life with someone/something.

Inspiration

I find the salsa spots in every city I go to - It’s the live band salsa for meee! I love to let my hair down, put on my salsa shoes and make my way onto the dance floor. Generally at these places, as the woman, you either stand dance floor adjacent waiting for someone to ask you to dance or you go and ask them. Every once in a while I observe people I never ever want to dance with and I avoid their every advance if they extended their hand to ask me to dance.

I’ve learned quite a few lessons in life and love through salsa dancing:

• I have to trust my partner’s leadership or the dance won’t work

• The dance looks better when the lead is strong

• A great leader adapts their style to the one they’re leading

• Lighten up - it’s tough to lead a tense partner

• Wear the right ‘shoes’

• Some dancers can be great, and just not match your desired style

• Stop trying to control the dance

• Practice makes excellent

• Sit back and observe their style before you choose to dance with them

If you can’t already tell, I tend to find revelation in everything. I see life as a dance as well. Sometimes it’s a dance party (whoop whoop!), other times it’s a slow bachata. Either way, the choice is ours who (or what) we ‘dance’ with.

I originally wrote this song to the enemy of my soul who kept trying to get me tangled up in mental messes of anxiety & depression, however it can be applied to anyone/anything that you don’t want to ‘dance’ with - Ever.
